Reading Is Dreaming

Today in Nightmare Magazine, in a continuing series on classic horror, I get extremely involved with “The Turn of the Screw” by Henry James.

It’s an old ghost story with more modern tactics than you may expect, and many levels of secrets. (The recent Mike Flanagan miniseries “The Haunting of Bly Manor” was very – and I mean very – loosely based on the story.) Appearing in Nightmare is a dream come true for me, and I’m quite proud of this little essay. Many thanks to Wendy Wagner for the opportunity, and for just being a very cool person and a great editor.

Two new stories are out that you can pay to read early or wait for the free online releases to go live. These journals offer paid subscriptions to keep in business. They post the free stories later in the spirit of making work accessible to everyone. If you’re flush, consider supporting them!

“These Are His Memories” in Seize The Press Issue 11 – A late night drive to nowhere with a mysterious stranger

“We Were All In Agreement” in Die Laughing Issue 1 – A consensual horror comedy with a very reasonable(?!) premise. “We were all in agreement: Craig needed more holes.”

Last, I’ve got about 100 (correction: sold out) copies left of my perverse horror-erotica chapbook based on the 1981 Zulawski film Possession. Only 200 will be printed, so this is a limited run. Told from the point of view of the Creature, it’s a short novelette of extreme horror, but also a prose poem, the sort of thing you might call “lyrical splatter” if such a genre exists.

I’ll post a separate page for purchasing soon to make it simpler if need be, but if you’d like one right away, Venmo @horrorsong or PayPal to PayPal.Me/horrorsong – make sure to include your correct mailing address, please!!! – the total cost with shipping is $8 US, $9 Canada, $10 everywhere else.

Thank you for reading! If you enjoy my writing, please follow. I only post when I have new work to share and news of upcoming releases or events.
