A Woman Is Screaming

January’s issue of The Deadlands includes my story “A Woman Is Screaming” – you can read it online now at Psychopomp!

Many thanks to guest editor Vajra Chandrasekera for choosing this story. I’m really honored. Vajra, as you probably already know, is a tremendous writer, author of The Saint of Bright Doors and Rakesfall.

A few people told me they got chills reading “A Woman Is Screaming.” And while the story begins and ends in a place of overt fear (unlike many of my stories), I hope you’ll dwell a bit on the journey there, on how a tragic event can occur in the first place, and how the residual effects may be forever unfolding.

I don’t have much news right now, having finally completed a novel I’ve been slowly developing over about three years. It’s a bit of a gay slasher, a bit of an anti-whodunnit, and full of the type of temporal and point-of-view shifts that make it a challenging read. I’m told the reward is equal to the challenge, however, (as I intended), so hopefully an agent or publisher I’ve sent it to will agree with that assessment soon. Light a candle or do a summoning circle for me, won’t you?

Follow here to get links to new stories as they’re published, as well as news of upcoming book releases and events. Seriously, this is the best way not to lose touch in our ever-shifting social media landscape! I won’t spam you, and I’ll only post when I have something worthwhile to share.
