Don’t you just love being a girl?
This story first found a home in Dark Fuse, quite a coup for me at the time. The publisher chose to take down the entire site for personal financial reasons in 2017, and Dark Fuse fizzled away into the ether. Rights reverted back to me and I wanted the story available, dammit, I wanted it to be read. It’s one of two pieces that grew from the smoking detritus of the 2016 election. It’s also one of my first pieces where I didn’t hold back. There’s a line I find offensive even though I wrote it: see if you can guess which one it is.
Many thanks to Alexis at New Millennium Writings for granting me the award in their Fear contest and sending me a zombie finger puppet and other gifts in the mail. I was having a shitty day when her bundle came and did not expect a publisher to send me gifts. Even on a good day I don’t expect anyone to send me gifts, do you? The package from Alexa was a delightful surprise, and the zombie finger puppet looks just like me. That’s true thoughtfulness.
