All Of Our Boys Are Missing

Yesterday Dread Central announced the table of contents for BURY YOUR GAYS, an anthology of tragic queer horror from Ghoulish Books. I’m over the moon that my labyrinthine exploration of forbidden desire and youthful queer longing “All of Our Boys Are Missing” will be part of it, along with stories from:

Gretchen Felker Martin, the badass genius behind the controversial book MANHUNT.

Jonathan Louis Duckworth, collaborator with me in The Deadlands, and author of the stunning new collection HAVE YOU SEEN THE MOON TONIGHT.

Cassandra Khaw–look, I don’t need to tell you who Cassandra is and how important they are to the horror scene and what poetry they bring to their prose, do I?! Of course not.

LC von Hessen, who I’ve shared more roll calls with than I can remember, and who I had the distinct pleasure of editing and publishing in the art horror anthology STORIES OF THE EYE.

Robbie Banfitch, the writer and director of what may be my favorite film released this year, THE OUTWATERS.

Okay, yeah, I’m having a fanboy moment about Robbie. THE OUTWATERS was structurally complex beneath its naturalistic outward appearance, and an absolute trip. I love storytelling that doesn’t treat me like I’m an idiot. I love found footage films. This one left me exuberant and exhausted, as if I’d been on a real journey, so sharing pages with the mind behind it is pretty exciting. This is Robbie’s first published fiction, so my congrats to him, and of course to all the excellent authors below.

Here’s more about the book and the full list of writers:

Editor Sofia Ajram said of the anthology:

“Queerness has always had a certain kinship with the horror genre, and it felt important to me when working with Max Booth (the publisher) to curate a space for stories by queer writers where everything was encouraged to be messy, because so much of the art we create is in response to existing narratives in real life. Tragic queer horror is sometimes political, oftentimes lonely, haunting, and depraved, and most of all can be absolutely filthy. I proudly get to say that all of these beautiful complexities have come together into an anthology I couldn’t be more thrilled to have edited. The revolutionary writers within explore tragic queer love in ways that delight and terrify and I’m so excited for readers to discover them.”
